The Aviva Community Fund is an incredible scheme that gives small causes and projects in local communities the chance to receive much needed funding. This year, Coversure Palmers Green have placed their support behind London based YOPEY (Young People of the Year) Befriender and nominated the project for the Fund. Palmers Green are thrilled to be announced as finalists in the Inclusivity category. Founded in 2012, YOPEY Befriender encourages teenage volunteers to spend time with elderly care home residents, many of whom have dementia. These weekly visits not only lend much valued company to the residents, but also help to provide the Befrienders with life skills, experience dealing with dementia and learning more about the older generation. Not only does this project prove the incredible impact that the elderly can have on the youth, leading to better understanding between the generations, but it also shows that time, dedication and empathy can help improve the lives of all involved. We wish Coversure Palmers Green and YOPEY Befriender the best of luck in both the competition and the future.
