Franchise Interview with Paul Hartle

Paul owns and runs the successful Nottingham office. Paul was a seasoned insurance industry professional before starting his own Coversure franchise so when it comes to giving a balanced view of what it’s like being a Coversure franchisee, Paul is a great person to ask.

How long have you been a franchise holder?
Sharon and I became franchise holders in 2004 opening our office in September

What was it that made you decide to become a Coversure franchisee – the support, the agencies, the products?
Having both been made redundant we were looking for an opportunity to invest our redundancy payments and saw an advert for a Coversure franchise. Once we had visited head office we didn’t look at any other options as the support offered by Coversure gave us confidence we would succeed.

On a day-to-day basis how supportive do you find Coversure HQ? Do they make doing business easier?
Yes, there is no doubt that life is made easier by Coversure HQ, they are constantly working on improving systems, access to markets and marketing to make it easier for us to write business

You took on Loughborough not so long ago – were Coversure helpful with that acquisition?
Coversure helped us by lending us the deposit at very favourable rates. In conjunction with DataMatters we have a transfer system to move the data from the Loughborough office into the Nottingham system, making the admin much quicker.

You’re obviously an advocate of the Coversure franchise programme. Would you recommend it to other insurance professionals thinking of starting their own brokerage?
I think it is a very good way to be a broker as you have the independence of running your own business your way with the backup and support of head office

And what’s the one piece of advice you’d give to someone starting their own Coversure franchise?
Be prepared to work hard, it’s your business you have to go out and get it, it won’t come to you.

If you could sum up being a Coversure franchise holder in a couple of sentences, what would you say?
Being a Coversure franchise holder allows me the independence to run my own business my way but has the back up and support of a head office whose only role is to support the franchise holders and help them to be a success.
