Phil Marchbanks, franchise holder at Coversure Godalming recently participated in the 100km South Coast Ultra Challenge with his wife to raise money and awareness for the stillbirth charity, Sands. They walked continuously from Eastbourne to Arundel in just over 30 hours, and raised an incredible £1,700 for an extremely worthwhile cause.
Established in 1978, Sands is the stillbirth and neonatal death charity. They operate throughout the UK, supporting anyone affected by the death of a baby, working to improve the care bereaved parents receive, and promoting research to reduce the loss of babies’ lives.
The Ultra Challenge Series
The Ultra Challenge Series offers a wide range of endurance events to help raise money for worthwhile charities. Over 20,000 adventurers are predicted to participate in 9 events across the UK during 2019, all with the aim to ‘push themselves further’. So far, the series has helped raised over £20 million for UK charities, including Sands.
‘Got the Bug for More Challenges’
Commenting on their impressive achievement, Phil said;
‘Participating in the South Coast Ultra Challenge to support Sands was an incredible feeling. We met a lot of very inspirational people during the Challenge, and have definitely got the bug. We will be taking on another Ultra next year, and more in years to come, to continue to raise money for worthwhile causes.’
