What are the benefits of being a franchise holder compared to being an independent broker?

"Where do you want me to start? The benefits are endless, right from the support received from head office to the FCA assistance provided and the computer system we use. There is always someone to talk to within Coversure if you have a query or a problem, when you are a small independent, insurers are not interested in giving good service levels or even providing quotations, they constantly threaten agency cancellation for non-support, how can you support them when they wont support you?

It's a catch 22 situation. Now I have the backing of Coversure and Policyfast, it has opened new doors to me which previously were slammed in my face, I am not only competing against the traditional larger brokers in my area for both Fleet & Commercial business, I am beating them too."

What made you want to become a franchise holder?

"After working for Coversure for several years I have seen them go from strength to strength and the facilities and support that they are offering at present has never been better, so I felt that this was the perfect time to start my own franchise."

What advice/tips would you give to new franchisees?

"I feel that the location is paramount to the success of the branch as local banks, building societies and even other insurance brokers can bring in passing trade. Look at more than one property and take into account what businesses and facilities are in the area as this can make a huge difference to the marketing potential. Do your homework on the cost of setting up and make sure you have sufficient funds available, because you need to concentrate on getting the business in the first few months and not worry about money."

After working for Coversure for several years I have seen them go from strength to strength and the facilities and support that they are offering at present has never been better, so I felt that this was the perfect time to start my own franchise.
