Well the Coversure conference is over for another year, but what a great weekend it was. Nearly 400 insurance professionals gathered in Milton Keynes over the weekend of Friday 3rd March – Sunday 5th March for a weekend of networking, company updates and fun.
The feedback we have received following the conference has been very positive and shows the value franchises place on attending one of the key events in the Coversure Calendar.
For those of you that weren’t able to join us or if you’d just like a reminder of what happened we thought we’d provide a quick recap below.

The conference kicked off on the Friday with Coversure’s first ever Franchise Holder Cocktail Party. This exclusive event was an opportunity for franchise holders to network with each other and key members of staff at Huntingdon. It was a break from the norm, and instead of a sit down meal, we opted for a more informal relaxed atmosphere aimed at promoting networking, making it easier for Franchise Holders to mix with a variety of people.
Saturday was the start of the main conference day and began with one of our biggest exhibitions ever. Over 30 exhibitors supported the conference this year and the feedback from franchisees and staff has been very positive about exhibitors and the time they dedicate to Coversure.
During the exhibition there were three side events.
Insurer Breakout Sessions
A favourite with both insurers and franchises the opportunity to grab a side room and spend some quality one on one time with some of our key insurance partners proved a massive hit.
Sarah, Giles, Thomas and Luke from Team Marketing had 17 back to back meetings covering a wide range of marketing topics from email marketing to cross sales strategies and office refurbishments to acquisitions.
Once again we had an onsite professional photographer to take headshots and team photos. Press shots have now been sent out to everyone that had one and these are great to use on social media, in the press and on your website.
Those of you at the exhibition might have been collared by our very own Roving reporter, Nick Elliman, who spent the exhibition interviewing franchise holders, directors and our insurance partners
Once the exhibition ended, the main Franchise conference could start. This year we announced yet another set of impressive organic growth figures which revealed income had risen by 9% in the past year to £110m GWP. This marks the ninth consecutive year of organic business growth for Coversure.
The conference theme for 2017 was ‘Good to Great’, a reference to leading business writer Jim Collins’ book, ‘Why Some Companies Make the Leap…and Others Don’t’. It is Coversure’s stated aim to make this transition and the management team spoke of further investment in personnel, training and products that would make this progression happen.
There were a series of conference speeches from Managing Director Bob Darling, Coversure’s Associate Director – Commercial, Steve Parker, who spoke at length on how Coversure is moving into a new age where they will have their own binders with A-rated insurers, through which a range of bespoke policies will be created which will further add to Coversure’s competitive service edge and Head of Franchise Support and Development Adam Belcher who, among other things, introduced the new renewals letter that is being launched in time for the FCA changes in April.
There were also a raft of new services being offered by Coversure in Marketing (Lead), HR and Compliance (Project Green).

The 100 Club
As with all conferences we had the eagerly awaited 100 club to celebrate those offices that have achieved 100,000 or more in one month. This year the 100 club saw new records set with more offices joining the club than ever before, 8 new entries, Knowsley writing over £100,000 in their first ever month and a Huntingdon achieving a record breaking monthly GWP of £900,000.
Coversure Conference: Business and Pleasure…
The weekend isn’t all work and no play. The evening saw a lavish gala dinner and awards ceremony hosted by ‘Mock The Week’ regular, Ed Byrne.
After the gala dinner the Broker awards took place where we were able to recognise those offices that have really shone in specific areas such as customer service, compliance and marketing.

The night was brought to a close by a leading Abba tribute band, Abba Revival, while guests played and a rollerball derby which was provided to fit in with the evenings, ‘Ladies’ Day’ racing theme.
