Fleet Insurance Benefits

I am the owner of a small coffee and sandwich bar in Fleet. For quite a while, we relied principally on walk in trade and were fortunate enough to have a well located store, right in the centre of a busy high street. Now I consider myself quite a careful person and not much of a risk taker. In fact I always made sure I had my business insurances in order and was quite happy with how the business was progressing.
However, after my business partner and I reviewed our business plan, we agreed to develop a new strategy for 2011. This was to be a five year business plan and was to grow our business significantly. Initially I was a bit sceptical as it required a large investment in our infrastructure. As you can probably tell, my business partner was more of a risk taker and so we often disagreed about new strategies.
After careful consideration and many arguments about how we should proceed, we decided to purchase some temperature controlled vehicles to start up an office delivery service for lunches. We already had one vehicle to do one off deliveries, but this was to be a new service and so we placed an order for 3 more vans, due to be delivered in two weeks time.
I happened to go to a business networking group a few nights after placing the order where I met a nice young insurance broker that was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about insurance. I told him about our new strategy and explained that I was worried about how much the vans were going to cost on the insurance. He told me that I could save money if I put our vans onto a fleet insurance policy. I told him that I thought that was a good idea, as all three were being delivered at the same time.
However, I then questioned him about our single van that was due for renewal in 3 months time. He said that I would probably save more money if I kept it on its own policy until the renewal is due and then add it to the fleet policy.
A few weeks later, I called up the broker to arrange the fleet policy and managed to save quite a substantial amount of money. I would advise anyone looking to save money on a fleet insurance policy to contact their local broker who should be able to offer valuable advice and guidance.
