Five Go Mad in a Motorhome

This is how five insurance guys had a cheap holiday in a motorhome/motor caravan. The insurance world has been tough, so we all thought that we would be able to have a good value holiday if as all crammed in to our friend’s parent’s motorhome/motor caravan and toured round Devon and Cornwall.
I had an image in my head as to what motorhomes and motor caravans were like. I had seen plenty of horror films and (other than the monster bits) I thought that the guys always seemed to be having quite a laugh. I suppose I thought we’d be in a matorhome/motor caravan built for 5 big insurance men. There are plenty to choose from, I knew that because I had looked them up. The Kentucky Camps Estros, for example are great big Italian motorhome that boast up to 7 births, or the Elddis Autoquest 180 can cope with 6. This was going to be a really cool holiday!
When my friend turned up to collect me I was a tad disappointed. His parents had enjoyed their motor caravan holidays, and clearly took them seriously. They had spent a lot of money on a Hymer, but instead of a 5/6 birth B-class 644, this was a B-class 504. Great… 5 seats but only 3 beds. I was asked to bring my tent.
Not disheartened, I loaded my consignment of beer into the back, and trundled off to find my camping stuff. The sun was shining, there were five of us going down to Devon and Cornwall for our cheap holiday, and we were going to have a good time. What could possibly go wrong?
I know dear reader you are waiting to read about the final tragedy that ruined the holiday. And I know I ought to invent one to make my story more interesting. The truth is that we had a fabulous time. Devon and Cornwall was heaving with likeminded people looking for good value holidays. We did loads of water-sports and mooching during the day, and loads of drinking, clubbing and pulling in the evenings.
For a whole week, I never thought about insurance once. I had an image of what a cheap motorhome holiday would be like, and what it would be like living in a motor caravan. Yes it was a bit cramped, and sure the queue for the shower was a pain, but I had the best time ever. This insurance guy would highly recommend using a mortorhome or motor caravan if you are looking for a cheap holiday.
